YPI Al Azhar is well known as one of the main da’wa institutions in Indonesia. Founded in 1952, Al Azhar is physically marked with a popular icons, the Great Mosque of Al Azhar (formerly the Great Mosque of Kebayoran Baru), which stands majestically in one of Jakarta's prime location, at Kebayoran Baru region. Al Azhar is also well known in relation to its main figure, one of Indonesia great scholars and authors, the late Buya Hamka. YPIA Al Azhar, from year to year, never stopped growing and evolving. The name "Al Azhar" had been embedded in dozens of educational institutions in various cities in Indonesia. In Jakarta alone, currently, there are more than 25 groups of activities of daily religious life at the complex of the Great Mosque of Al-Azhar. In addition to Al Azhar Great Mosque, a name pinned by Sheikh Mahmoud Syaltout, from Al-Azhar University, Cairo, who is visiting the country in 1961, now also stands the campus of Al Azhar Islamic University (UIA), besides the educational complex from kindergarten to high school level.

In addition to the formal educational activities, there are a myriad of activities of YPI Al Azhar, such as regular assembly, courses, public lectures, discussions, health care center, travel agencies and hajj and umrah teaching center, martial arts, and now financial services, through the operation of Wakala Dinar Dirham Al Azhar.

"With the operation of Wakala Al-Azhar we will soon be able to apply the use of Dinar and Dirham in various unit of our institution both the commercial and noncommercial ventures," said Dr. H. Shobahussurur, MA, Chairman of Al Azhar Mosque Takmir, Saturday, July 24, 2010. He led the ceremony of the handover of the initial stock of Dinar and Dirham coins of Wakala Al Azhar.

In the near future, the staff of Wakala Al Azhar will soon start the out let, and to socialize Dinar and Dirham among the community members of Al Azhar.

"With the present of the wakala we will submit any Indonesian Muslims financial assistance to help the Palestinian people trusted through us no longer in U.S. dollars, but in gold dinar," said Dr. H. Shobahussurur.

This action is, of course, not just a symbolic but will provide tremendous impact, when the Muslims have been able to reduce the dependence on the U.S. dollar, which we all know is one of the Zionist forces strenght.
