In Gresik 100 Nisfu Dirham of Zakat Were Distributed
The raising of the fallen pillar of zakat is continued.
Gresik city, East Java, not only began to feel the restoration of Muamalat, but started again the raising of the pillar of zakat, which must be taken and distributed in the form of 'ayn, i.e gold or silver coins and not as promise to pay (dayn or debt), which now existed as paper money. Thanks to Mrs. Santya Anggraini, al Wakil of Wakala Sunan Gresik, who coordinates members of Jawara ( Dinar and Dirham Users Network of Nusantara) Gresik Chapter, to organize the Market Day Festival held in June 14 to 16, 2012.
There is a series of activities that Wakala Sunan Gresik Gresik and members of Jawara organized in collaboration with the Department of Culture and Tourism in East Java. The activity was centered in the old village that has many local cultural heritage. Attending the ceremony were Mr. Abdarrahman Rachadi, Chairman of the JAWARA. On this occasion Mr. Abdarrahman gave lectures about the Dinar and Dirham, along with the distribution of zakat, in the Kemasan Mosque, Nyai Ageng Arem Arem Street, No. 3.
In this occasion not less than 100 nisfu Dirham coins of zakat were distributed to mustahik, most of whom were local orphans. The zakat coins were derived from the Baitul Mal Nusantara (BMN). This is the first time in Gresik mustahik have received zakat money in the form of 'ayn, (silver dirhams) and not in paper money.
'The kids were excited to know that the dirhams and the dinars can be used to buy things in the bazaar, to pay the zakat, and used for dowry. They can be used just like rupiah is used,' Mrs. Santya reported.
Since it was inititaed in 2009 there are more than 100 Market Day Festivals have been organized by Jawara in various cities in Indonesia. The total zakat that have been distributed is not less than 12 thousands Dirhams. All the activities are under the authority of the Amirat of Indonesia.(001)
